How to Order a Floating Pontoon

Ordering a floating pontoon is easier when the process is clear from the beginning. At Top Marine, we help you move from the first idea to a completed pontoon step by step.

You may need a new pontoon for a private shoreline, marina, harbour, bathing area or floating platform. You may also want to replace an old pontoon or compare different pontoon types before making a decision.

The process usually includes five main steps: planning, design, production, transport and installation. After installation, regular maintenance helps keep the pontoon safe and durable for many years.

Step 1: Tell us what you need

The first step is to describe your project. Tell us where the pontoon will be installed, how it will be used and what kind of boats, users or loads it must support.

Useful information includes:

the location of the pontoon;
water depth and shoreline conditions;
expected wave and wind conditions;
whether the pontoon is for swimming, boat mooring, marina use or a floating platform;
preferred size and layout;
accessories you may need.

Step 2: Design and offer

After we understand your project, we prepare a drawing and an initial offer. This helps you see the pontoon layout, main dimensions, accessories and estimated cost.

At this stage, you can discuss the layout, berth arrangement, delivery time and additional pontoon accessories. Depending on the project, these may include anchoring, gangways and abutments, mooring buoys, boat booms, mooring fingers, service pedestals or safety equipment.

If something needs to change, we update the drawing and offer. The goal is to make sure the pontoon fits the site, intended use and budget before production starts.

Step 3: Production

After you confirm the order, we produce the pontoon at the Top Marine factory. Production time depends on the pontoon type, project size and season.

A timber pontoon with concrete floats is usually faster to produce than a heavy duty concrete pontoon. Heavy duty pontoons often need more planning because ducts, fastening points and some accessories must be planned during production.

We check the final delivery time before confirming the order, so the schedule is realistic and clear.

Step 4: Transport

When the pontoon is ready, we arrange transport with you. Transport depends on the pontoon size, route, unloading location and access to the shoreline.

Large pontoons may require special transport, crane lifting or careful site preparation. Top Marine has experience delivering pontoons to many different locations, including private shores, marinas, harbours and inland waters.

Good transport planning helps avoid delays and makes installation easier.

Step 5: Installation

Installation is the final step before the pontoon can be used. The installation time depends on the pontoon type, project size, anchoring method, shoreline conditions and site access.

A simple small pontoon may take only a short time to install. A larger marina or harbour project can take several days or longer.

Before installation, we make sure the required parts, accessories and equipment are ready. This helps the work on site run more smoothly.

After installation: maintenance

A floating pontoon needs regular maintenance to stay safe, clean and durable. Owners can handle some simple maintenance tasks themselves. For more demanding work, ask experienced specialists.
