Swimming ladders make floating pontoons, swimming pontoons and docks safer and more comfortable to use. They provide easy access into and out of the water for marinas, bathing areas, private shores and floating platforms.
Top Marine pontoon swimming ladders withstand weather and suit both saltwater and freshwater environments. We use pressure-treated, profiled timber for the steps, which helps reduce the risk of slipping.
Depending on the model and project requirements, you can choose stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised steel.
Choosing the right swimming ladder
The right swimming ladder depends mainly on the structure where it will be installed and how much the water level changes.
A longer swimming ladder is usually the best choice for fixed structures, where the water level changes in relation to the ladder. If the ladder is too short, it may not reach the water properly at lower water levels.
A shorter 4-step swimming ladder is often sufficient for floating pontoons. Because a floating pontoon moves with the water level, the ladder stays at a consistent height in relation to the water. In most cases, a 4-step ladder is enough for both children and adults to climb out of the water.
If the ladder will be used by older people, children or people with reduced mobility, a longer 6-step or 7-step swimming ladder can provide more comfort and safety.
If you choose a long ladder for a floating pontoon, the water depth should also be checked. In shallow water, the bottom of the ladder may touch the seabed.
You can also choose lift-up models for both short and long swimming ladders. This is useful when you use the ladder less often or want to keep the lower steps cleaner. When you lift the ladder out of the water, the steps are less likely to become slippery or collect sludge.
7-step swimming ladder

A 7-step swimming ladder is suitable for fixed structures and locations where the water level may vary more.
- The frame length is 2.7 m.
- The length below the pontoon deck is 1.87 m.
- The step width is 0.6 m.
- The steps are made of pressure-treated, profiled timber.
- The ladder is available in stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised steel.
6-step swimming ladder
A 6-step swimming ladder is an alternative to the 7-step model. It is suitable for similar locations where a longer ladder is needed.
- The step width is 0.6 m.
- The steps are made of pressure-treated, profiled timber.
- The ladder is available in stainless steel only.
4-step swimming ladder

A 4-step swimming ladder is a practical choice for floating pontoons, swimming pontoons and many private bathing areas.
- The frame length is 1.8 m.
- The length below the pontoon deck is 1.05 m.
- The step width is 0.6 m.
- The steps are made of pressure-treated, profiled timber.
- The ladder is available in stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised steel.
How to install pontoon swimming ladders
Top Marine can install pontoon swimming ladders as part of a complete pontoon project. In many cases, you can also install the ladder yourself if the pontoon structure and mounting points are suitable.
